Head on Accident with Extrication

Yesterday morning at 9:16 am, Pingree Grove & Countryside Responded to a Vehicle Accident on Rt 20 a quarter mile West of Coombs Road. While units were in route, the Accident was upgraded to Extrication bringing more units to assist. Upon arrival, personnel found a two Vehicle Head-On Accident, one Vehicle with Moderate Damage on the roadway requiring Extrication and one with Heavy Damage in the shoulder/ditch requiring Extrication. 1201 assumed Command, 1214 & 1213 preformed Extrication. Extrication on Vehicle 1 was completed in 3 minutes and the extrication on Vehicle 2 took approximately 20 minutes. 1301 was assigned Landing Officer. One patient was transported to a local hospital, and the other patient was transported via Superior AirMed One, to a Level One Trauma Center. Rt 20 was closed for an Hour. The scene was turned over to Kane County Sheriff's Police and is under investigation.
