Multi Vehicle Accident with Extrication

Today at 3:46 pm, Hampshire Fire was dispatched to a Multiple Vehicle Accident on Route 72, East of Brier Hill Road. While enroute, the Call was upgraded to an extrication. 1411, 1451, 1453, 1402, 1301, 1351 & 1202 responded. On arrival, personnel found a 4 Vehicle Accident, one vehicle with heavy damage, a confirmed extrication, and a total of 4 patients. 1402 took Command, requested a Medical Helicopter and two additional ambulances, 1402 also advised that the location of the call was in Pingree Grove's Fire District. 1214 and 1251 responded. 1301 was assigned as the extrication officer, and 1202 was designated as the landing officer. 1 Patient was transported to a Level One hospital by Medical Helicopter. 3 Patients signed Medical Releases. The scene was turned over to the Kane County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Team. The accident is under investigation. Rt 72 was closed for over an hour from Rt 47 to Brier Hill Rd and will remain closed until the investigation is completed.
