Today, firefighters Debra Bevins, Brooke LeClercq, Bradley Roberts, Ryan Saylor, Gregory Hunter, Daniel Bredthauer, and RJ Schmidt were at Country Trails Elementary School in Elgin, concluding October's fire safety education with students. Students learned various fire safety lessons such as how to call 9-1-1, performing Stop, Drop, and Roll, exit drills from the home, and designating a meeting place. Firefighters provided a demonstration, showing students what they look like after putting on their fire gear and provided tours of the fire truck for Kindergarten-2nd Grade. 3rd and 5th grade students were able to experience the reality of a smokey environment through the use of a smokehouse.
